13 June 2008
Thousands of votes have been cast for the Best of the Booker, a one-off celebratory award marking the 40th anniversary of the Booker Prize. The shortlist of six previous Booker-winning novels was announced in May and it is now down to a public poll to decide which author will win the prize.
The shortlist is:
Pat Barker's The Ghost Road
Peter Carey's Oscar and Lucinda
JM Coetzee's Disgrace
JG Farrell's The Siege of Krishnapur
Nadine Gordimer's The Conservationist
Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children
Votes have been cast from all over the world and there is a closely fought battle for places. The winner will be announced on 10 July at the London Literature Festival.
You can place your vote on the voting pages or via SMS text (charges apply).
