Man Booker events at Edinburgh International Book Festival
Edinburgh International Book Festival logo40 Years of the Man Booker: Margaret Atwood, Louise Doughty & John Mullan
7 August 2008
This year is the 40th anniversary of the most important literary award in the English language.
An expert panel will consider the impact of the prize: Margaret Atwood, winner in 2000 with The Blind Assassin, 2008 judge and novelist Louise Doughty, and John Mullan, judge for The Best of the Booker. This event takes place on 23 August 2008.
The Festival is also delighted to welcome five of this year's longlisted authors to Charlotte Square Gardens this summer. Visitors to the Book Festival will have the chance to hear Sebastian Barry (21 August), Linda Grant (23 August), Mohammed Hanif (12 August) and Philip Hensher (13 August) speak about their latest books. Salman Rushdie (24 August), who won the prize with Midnight's Children in 1981, and the Best of the Booker earlier this year, will present his new, longlisted novel The Enchantress of Florence.
In addition, last year's Man Booker Prize winner, Anne Enright, will also be appearing at the festival on 15 August.
