Free audio extracts of 2008 titles now available

Man Booker Prize makes extracts available online and to mobile phones

18 September 2008

The Man Booker Prize now has free audio extracts of the 2008 shortlisted titles available to download to mobile phones.

In an exclusive partnership with the mobile site GoSpoken, launched in April 2008 at the London International Book Fair, the Man Booker Prize is able to offer avid readers the chance to listen to or read a free extract of each of the six titles.

If the reader enjoys the extract, they will also be able to use their phone to download the full audio book or have a hard copy delivered direct to their homes. The cost will be added to their mobile phone bill.

GoSpoken.com is a unique mobile platform which can be accessed by anybody with a mobile phone or Internet access.  It allows you to search, try, buy and enjoy books in audio and text.

Jonathan Taylor comments, "After forty years making the headlines in the literary world, it is good that the Man Booker Prize is now also taking a lead in the world of new technology."
