The Man Booker Prize shortlisted authors were brought together for a special portrait photograph this year, exclusively commissioned by The Guardian. The photograph appeared in their newspaper on the day of the winner announcement (14 October 2008).
The six shortlisted authors (left to right: Steve Toltz, Amitav Ghosh, Philip Hensher, Linda Grant, Sebastian Barry and winner Aravind Adiga) posed for the photograph in the National Art Library at the V&A. The museum is currently displaying the Booker 40, celebrating the prize's 40th anniversary.
The photograph was taken by The Guardian's award-winning photographer Graeme Robertson.
