Long-awaited novel from Man Booker Prize winner

On the basis of a 4-page proposal, Alfred Knopf's Sonny Mehta has paid $2.5 million for The Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny, the new novel by Kiran Desai.
Kiran Desai won the Man Booker Prize in 2006 with her first novel The Inheritance of Loss. The novel is now one of the big novels being taken to this year's Frankfurt Book Fair.
The Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny will be published in 2012.
