Waterstone’s and libraries team up for Man Booker events

Series of Man Booker events around the UK

In a new partnership between Waterstone's and libraries, a series of events around the UK will take place on and around the announcement of the Man Booker Prize for Fiction 2010.

Events confirmed so far include:

Monday 11th October, 8.15pm
Bishop's Stortford Library

Damon Galgut will be appearing at Bishop's Stortford library reading from and discussing his 2010 Booker Shortlisted novel In a Strange Room. He'll also be answering questions and signing copies at the end of the night.

Tickets cost £5 (£2.50 concessions) and are available from Bishop's Stortford Library (01279 307469) and Waterstone's (01279 508900).
Ticket prices include a glass of wine.

Tuesday 12th October, Central Library, Stirling

Come and join our panel - Doug Jackson (Author), Rebecca Garner (Waterstone's), Louise Graham (Stirling Libraries) and Gregor White (Stirling Observer) - who will discuss the Man Booker shortlisted books and choose a Stirling winner from the list.

Starts from: 7.30 pm / Tickets £4.00/£3.00 (refreshments)

Tuesday 12th October, Waterstone's, Hexham Branch

Hexham Library in conjunction with Waterstones is holding a ‘Man Booker evening & quiz'. The quiz will have include Man Booker and general knowledge questions. There will be a prize of the six shortlisted titles for the winning participant. Participants will also be asked to suggest who they think will win this year's prize, and pick Hexham's recommendation to win the Man Booker!

Tuesday 12th October, Waterstone's, Liverpool One

Liverpool Libraries are working with Waterstone's store in Liverpool One to host a free event which will start in the book store at 6pm and finish at 7.30pm. After brief presentations about the books on the shortlist, we will vote for Liverpool's winner, and there will be a prize draw and a fun quiz.

Tuesday 12th October, Morpeth Library

Morpeth Library will be hosting a Booker Quiz night to tie in with the winner announcement. Teams of four are invited to attend. £2 entry per team including refreshments. They will have a book stall selling the 'Best of Booker' titles and will be donating the 2010 Booker shortlist books as first prize.
