Nadine Gordimer dies aged 90

Nadine Gordimer, Booker Prize winner (1974) and Man Booker International Prize judge (2007), has died aged 90. She was widely known as an author and anti-Apartheid activist, described by Seamus Heaney as one of the “guerrillas of the imagination”.

The Testament of Mary at the Barbican. What the critics said.

The stage version of Colm Tóibín’s Man Booker Prize 2013 shortlisted The Testament of Mary has arrived at the Barbican, directed by Deborah Warner.  Former Man Booker Prize judge Fiona Shaw appears in the lead role as Mary, mother of Christ during the aftermath of his crucifixion.  The reviews are in and the production has been assured ‘must see’ status by critical acclaim.

Man Booker Prize judges plant ‘Booker Dozen’ at Woodland Trust’s Hainault Forest

Today, Friday 25 April, saw the judges of the 2013 Man Booker Prize for Fiction reunited in their last official duty, as they travelled to Hainault Forest to plant trees with the Woodland Trust.
