Marina Warner
Marina Warner was born in London in November 1946. Her non-fiction includes Alone of All Her Sex: The Myth and the Cult of the Virgin Mary, Monuments and Maidens: The Allegory of the Female Form, which won the Fawcett Book Prize. Her fiction includes In a Dark Wood, The Skating Party and The Lost Father which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize for Fiction and won the Commonwealth Writers Prize (Eurasia Region, Best Book). She is also the author of children’s books and short stories. She holds honorary degrees from the Universities of Exeter, York and St Andrews, as well as honorary doctorates from Sheffield Hallam University and the University of North London. She was awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (France) in 2000.
