Julian Rathbone was born in Blackheath, London in 1935.  His novels include Brandenburg Concerto, Blame Hitler, Intimacy, Greenfinger, A spy of the Old School.  He has been shortlisted for the Booker Prize twice; firstly in 1976 with King Fischer Lives and secondly 1979 with Joesph.
