Author Biography

C P Snow (Charles Percy Snow, Baron Snow of Leicester) was born in Leicester in October 1905.  He was educated as a chemist and physicist at the universities of Leicester and Cambridge.  His novel sequence (11 novels in total) Stranger and Brothers spans the life of its narrator and took 30 years to write.  His other novels include The Search; In Their Wisdom which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize and A Coast of Varnish.  He also wrote several critical works including a biography of Trollope. He was knighted in 1957 and created a life peer in 1964.  He died in 1980.
