Synopsis
The Hand-Reared Boy was the first British novel to frankly explore the sexual awakening of a young boy as he grows into adolescence. With wit and perception it describes the burgeoning sexuality of Horatio Stubbs as he comes to be aware that other people are more than sexual objects.
Author Biography
Brian Aldiss was born in 1925 and was first published in 1955 with The Brightfount Diaries (a novel about a bookseller). He is most famous as a science fiction novelist and anthologist, and was awarded an OBE in 2005.
